WHAT IS VOUCHER?
When you fund your account on 1Bitcoin.ca, you are purchasing a non-redeemable voucher that can be used solely to buy Bitcoin on our platform.
Vouchers:
- Do not represent cash balances or stored value.
- Are not refundable.
- Cannot be redeemed for Canadian dollars (CAD) or any other fiat currency.
- Cannot be transferred to another person or platform.
Vouchers are a settlement mechanism within our non-custodial model and are not financial instruments, securities, or deposit accounts.
Think of it like a gift card — usable only to acquire Bitcoin through 1Bitcoin.ca.
HOW VOUCHERS WORK
- You fund your account via e-transfer, wire, or other approved payment method.
- We issue a voucher equal to the CAD amount received.
- You may redeem the voucher immediately or at a later date to purchase Bitcoin.
- When redeemed, the Bitcoin will be priced at the prevailing market rate at the time of redemption, not at the time of voucher issuance.
- Once redeemed, your Bitcoin is sent directly to the self-custody wallet you provide.
IMPORTANT TERMS
- Single Use Only – Vouchers are valid for one-time use to buy Bitcoin. Once redeemed, they cannot be reused, reissued, or reversed.
- Non-Redeemable for Cash – Vouchers have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn in fiat currency.
- Expiration & Inactivity – Vouchers do not expire, but we reserve the right to cancel vouchers that remain unused for 12 consecutive months, with written notice to the account holder. Cancelled vouchers will not be refunded unless required by law.
- No Refunds – Once a voucher is issued, it is non-refundable, including in cases where:
- The client changes their mind;
- A valid Bitcoin wallet address is not provided; or
- The wallet address provided is incorrect.
- Fraud & Compliance – We reserve the right to freeze or cancel vouchers if there is suspected fraud, money laundering, or other prohibited activity under our Terms & Conditions.
SECURITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
1Bitcoin.ca does not custody Bitcoin for clients. You are solely responsible for:
- Providing a correct and valid Bitcoin wallet address for redemption.
- Ensuring you have full access to your wallet and private keys.
- Verifying that you have received your Bitcoin after redemption.
- Protecting your wallet from theft, phishing, and unauthorized access.
Important: Bitcoin transactions are irreversible once broadcast to the Bitcoin network. If you provide an incorrect wallet address, we cannot recover your Bitcoin.
