This is what it feels like every day to be a Bitcoiner and CEO of a Bitcoin-only company. We started 1Bitcoin.ca as a way to educate Canadians about Bitcoin, help them “get off zero,” and guide them through a steep learning curve. I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done and will continue to do for years to come.
Throughout our time advising and answering questions about Bitcoin, we’ve encountered plenty of skeptics. That’s not surprising — everyone starts off as one. No one hears about Bitcoin for the first time and instantly understands it. I didn’t either.
However, I now spend a majority of my time educating not only cautious pre-coiners, but also the misguided crypto-bros promoting the “next Bitcoin.” The crypto ecosystem muddies the waters. Over 15,000 junk coins claim different use cases, yet none compete with Bitcoin. Bitcoin has already established itself as the blue-chip asset of the entire ecosystem.
Bitcoin is the Internet of Money — a digital, distributed, unstoppable, peer-to-peer monetary network. If someone is telling you their coin will overtake Bitcoin, they are wrong. Crypto and Bitcoin are not synonymous, and understanding that distinction is critical before you ever decide to Buy Bitcoin in Canada.

Most people unfamiliar with Bitcoin raise the same objections:
- The government will ban it
- It’s only used for illegal activity
- It’s backed by nothing
- It’s a Ponzi or a pump-and-dump
- A newer technology will replace it
- It’s bad for the environment
The same tired arguments — and yes, they are all wrong.
That’s okay. Everyone is wrong at first. The real mistake is staying wrong. Bitcoin doesn’t require a PhD in economics to understand. Its superiority to the current financial system becomes obvious once you take the time to learn. We’re watching price discovery happen in real time, on a global scale — a once-in-a-millennium monetary event.
Many believe it’s “too late.” That’s like saying there was no point in getting an email address because the internet had already existed for 30 years. Bitcoin adoption is still early, and growing faster than the internet did at a comparable stage.
While I never give financial advice on allocation size, the only truly wrong approach is a zero percent allocation. Even a small exposure acknowledges the asymmetric upside Bitcoin offers. For Canadians with significant capital who are evaluating that exposure carefully, Bitcoin for High Net Worth Canadians provides a structured and compliant path forward.
Bitcoin is volatile — no one denies that. But volatility cuts both ways. Long-term conviction matters more than short-term price noise. And when conviction eventually turns into action, access to deep liquidity through Bitcoin OTC Canada ensures large transactions can be handled discreetly and efficiently.
If you still have questions, that’s good. Asking questions is how understanding begins. If you want to learn more about Bitcoin or discuss it honestly, feel free to reach out to me or the team at 1Bitcoin.ca. We’ll still be here — and Bitcoin will be too.
